This class focuses on the production of the schools monthly newspaper and annual school yearbook.  Staff members will attain basic photography skills, learn journalism terminology and writing technique, use desktop publishing software design and publish the yearbook, learn and practice marketing and sales skills through the sale of advertising, and learn the importance of working as a team to accomplish a common goal.

August and September Highlights:  Our yearbook and newspaper staff have hit the ground running this school year.  We attended the fall Jostens yearbook workshop at Highland Community College on September 5th and came away with our theme and cover idea chosen.  Be sure to check out the photos from the workshop in the  Photo Gallery!  Staff members participated in a mini-journalism workshop during two class periods and are working on their articles for our first edition of the school newspaper, The  Howler.  You'll see our staff members at a variety of Pearl City High School sporting events snapping photos for use in both the yearbook and newspaper.

October Hightlights:  The class has two editions of The Howler‚Äč published, and all the positive comments and remarks have been appreciated.  The staff finished up our sponsorship sales campaign, and we appreciated the faithful support from many businesses and individuals in the Pearl City area.  With the conclusion of the fall sports season, we are now beginning to work on our first yearbook layouts using the online Jostens yearbook design software.

November Highlights:  Our November edition of The Howler will be released on November 26th.  Be sure to check it out and find out for what our PCHS students are thankful!  Writing yearbook body copy and photo captions for the yearbook introduction and fall layouts has been our focus as we work towards producing a quality edition of the Pearlanna.

December Highlights:  With the beginning of the basketball seasons, speech and academic team meets, and music concerts, the staff kept busy photographing and chronicling another month in the life of Pearl City High School.

January Highlights:  The yearbook cover was finalized and will reflect our theme of "All Roads to Lead To Pearl City  High School."  Fall page layouts are nearing completion as we prepare to begin the winter activities layouts.  Our January edition of the The Howler  included articles about Dr. Mandrell's new job as superintendent in Polo and the popularity of TikTok with PCHS students.
